Discover life at the Welsh university where your course is just the beginning of a new chapter

Choose to study at a university which is joint third in the UK for student satisfaction (Times Higher Education, 2024), which is focused on the employability of its graduates, and which provides opportunities for all.

Then imagine all of this being within easy reach at four campuses spread across South and West Wales, and two in England.

That’s what’s on offer at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, which is inviting prospective students to start their next chapter by coming along to its upcoming series of open days:

November:

  • Cardiff 16th

  • Lampeter 23rd

  • Carmarthen 27th

  • Swansea 30th

Whether you are a school or college leaver, or returning to education after some time away, you can choose your own path with an undergraduate degree at UWTSD.

High quality teaching, small class sizes and engaging lectures encourage students to ask questions and take part in group discussions, deepening their understanding of the topic at hand.

Students can expect to leave UWTSD with a genuine edge in a competitive job market, with the employability of its graduates one of the university's highest priorities. It's an approach that gets results, as students themselves reported in the Times Higher Education student satisfaction survey for 2024, where UWTSD was placed joint third.

At UWTSD, students learn what employers really need, so that they are ready to hit the ground running after graduation. The university’s range of specialist courses spans the arts, business, education and more, while students gain vital hands-on experience using industry-standard facilities.

A choice of campuses and courses

UWTSD is recognised as the birthplace of higher education in Wales, a story that began just over 200 years ago with the foundation of its Lampeter campus in 1882.

Today, the university is composed of campuses in Swansea, Carmarthen, Lampeter, Cardiff (plus London and Birmingham) with an overarching vision to be a university for Wales, with a commitment to the well-being and heritage of the nation at the heart of all that it does.

From foundation courses and apprenticeships to undergraduate degrees and postgraduate study, there's a course for everyone at UWTSD. Subjects taught cover the full range of interests and intended careers, in areas like STEM, education, creative industries, humanities, business, sport and more.

Students at UWTSD have access to superb facilities across the university: ultra-modern seminar rooms and computer suites, and brand new collaboration spaces – as well as other amazing facilities like on-campus theatres, artist studios, specialist workshops, newly kitted out gyms and sports halls, research areas, and so much more.

No matter which campuses you call home, everything is in place to help you settle in, thrive and ultimately fulfil your potential.

Academy of Sport

Away from the classroom, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David Academy of Sport is based across the university's South West Wales campuses.

The Academy's focus sports are men’s and women’s football, men’s and women’s rugby, and women’s netball, while there is also excellent support for individual sports like athletics, cycling, swimming and triathlon.

Whatever your chosen field, you'll have access to professional-level coaching and strength and conditioning training, as well as advice on nutrition, diet and lifestyle.

The facilities are truly impressive, including a strength and conditioning gym, 3G training area, fitness studio, physiology and biomechanics labs, swimming pool, sports analysis suite, indoor sports hall, sports therapy and rehabilitation suites.

There's also the opportunity to pit yourself against competitors from across the country in the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) leagues, events and championships.

UWTSD's experienced staff and coaching professionals are on hand to help you thrive and succeed in the world of sport.

Support at every step

There’s support at every step, too. UWTSD prides itself on being a supportive and inclusive university where students from all backgrounds, and with all aspirations, can feel comfortable and ready to achieve their best.

And when you need a little extra help, it’s ready and waiting for you. Student Hwb is your first port of call, covering everything from careers advice and interview practice, to mental health support, financial guidance, and more.

It’s no wonder that UWTSD was rated the best university in Wales for Communication of Mental Wellbeing Support in 2023.

At UWTSD, you can live the student life you’ve always dreamed of, with on-campus accommodation at Carmarthen and Lampeter that puts you right in the heart of things and just a stone’s throw from all the support you need.

At Swansea and Cardiff, you get to make the city your new home with purpose-built, private accommodation close to campus, but that still offers the excitement and endless possibilities of city life.

See for yourself!

There's no substitute for seeing everything for yourself, and now you have that opportunity with a series of open days in November.

You and your family will be able to tour each campus, get a feel of what student life is like there, meet staff and students, and ask all the burning questions that you must have before finalising your application.

With an ambitious approach to higher education that will get you ready for the next stage in your life, a warm, community atmosphere in each of its campuses, and a cohort of happy, engaged students, UWTSD has everything you need for the next chapter in your life.
